About The Event
The advancement of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including the field of education. In the context of mathematics education, AI holds great potential to transform the teaching and learning process as well as the application of mathematics in various fields. The implementation of AI can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of content delivery, open up new opportunities for personalized teaching, and facilitate deeper understanding for students. However, the adoption of AI in mathematics education also presents its own challenges. Issues such as the availability of quality data, the complexity of designing appropriate algorithms, and the need for teacher training are some of the obstacles that must be faced. Additionally, there are concerns about the impact of AI on students' creativity and critical thinking skills, as well as the potential biases that may arise in AI systems. Amidst these challenges, there are also opportunities that can be leveraged in the transformation of mathematics education and the application of mathematics through AI implementation. The development of AI systems integrated with the curriculum, the use of visualization and simulation tools, and increased collaboration between educators, researchers, and AI developers can pave the way for innovation in mathematics education. This can enhance student engagement, promote conceptual understanding, and prepare future generations to face increasingly complex challenges. In order to address these challenges and capitalize on these opportunities, the Mathematics Education Study Program at IKIP Siliwangi will be organizing ISAMME 2024. This seminar aims to invite educators, researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders to discuss, share insights, and explore innovative solutions for integrating AI into mathematics education.
